Flights – Depending on how long your flight is, the amount of CO2 emitted per unit of distance changes. Short haul flights emit the most CO2 on average because of the large amounts of fuel used to take off. EPA data was used for air travel calculations.
Car Rentals - Data for vehicle emissions was taken from data supplied by the EPA and its’ website, www.fueleconomy.gov. The data used is an average of a North American’s fuel economy, based on driving 100km per day.
Tour Days – the data used for tour days are based on a two day and one night, 320 km trip by bus.
Ocean Cruise – an ocean cruise is based on 3,000 passengers going 640 km per day.
Hotels – data for emissions for hotel stays was taken from Conservation International.
